Luis F. Febus is President/Broker and Founder of The Shield Agency, LLC, an insurance and financial services company which addresses the special needs of  the Uniform Members of Service and the Civil Service Workforce.  With more than 25 years of experience, Mr. Febus is a veteran in the insurance and financial services industry.  As a powerful communicator, his main expertise is the ability to simplify complex issues and explain them in fundamental terms in group and individual settings.   By reviewing the client’s financial portfolios,  Mr. Febus develops strategies that best meets the client’s needs.

Before going into private practice and founding The Shield Agency, LLC and Shield Financial, he worked in law enforcement with the United States Department of Justice and subsequently returned to Financial Services with the New York City Deferred Compensation 457/401(k) Plan.  While working at the New York City Deferred Compensation Plan as a former supervisor, he successfully managed a team of Client Service Representatives (“CSR’s”) in a call center responsible for a population of over 100,000 participants.  He audited and mentored CSR’s in handling various, and often problematical customer issues. After successfully operating a Client Service Department, Mr. Febus was rewarded with the task of restructuring the Outreach Unit and became the liaison to benefits managers from all New York City agencies.  In this capacity he coordinated kiosks, seminars and presentations on Tax Deferred Compensation Plans to New York City employees.  He and his team were also responsible for conducting the Retirement Seminars at the Police Pension, FDNY Pension and NYCERS.  While working with the New York City Deferred Compensation Plan, he utilized his knowledge of IRS code regulations related to IRAs, 457, 401(a)(k), 403(b) and 414(h) plans in determining the appropriate course of action in complex situations.

Mr. Febus is currently active in various charitable organizations and works closely with small businesses, as well as members of the Hispanic Community. 

He is active on several executive boards
